Cats Abbey is situated at the entrance from the east to the Cotswolds just past Burford and half way between Oxford and Cheltenham.
It is a part of the beautiful National Trust Sherborne Estate with some excellent local walks straight out of the door on the edge of the original and untouched village of Sherborne. You can discover more about The Sherborne Estate here.

Driving directions from the South of England:
From London or the Southeast:
Take the M40 motorway westbound (from London, follow signs to Oxford/Birmingham).
Exit at Junction 8 for A40, heading toward Oxford/Cheltenham.
Continue on the A40 through Oxford, then west toward Burford.
At Burford, take the second exit at the roundabout continuing on the A40 towards Northleach and Sherborne.
As you approach, look for a petrol station beside The Inn for All Seasons.
Pass two small turnings for Windrush, then take the next right, signposted "Sherborne 1½ miles."
Cats Abbey is the first property on the left; take the second of the two entrances.
From Southampton or the South Coast:
Take the M3 northbound, then merge onto the A34 northbound toward Oxford.
At Oxford, join the A40 westbound toward Cheltenham.
Follow the same route as above: A40 → Burford → Sherborne.
From the Southwest (e.g., Exeter/Bristol):
Take the M5 northbound toward Cheltenham.
Exit at Junction 11A for the A417 toward Cirencester.
Follow the A417, then take the A429 northbound toward Northleach.
Continue with Northleach on your right, and at the roundabout take the third exit onto the A40 towards Burford and Sherborne.
Pass the first signpost on your left to Sherborne and take the second small turning on the left signposted “Sherborne 1 ½ miles”.

Driving directions from the North of England:
Start by heading south on the M6 motorway.
At junction 8, merge onto the M5 motorway southbound.
Continue on the M5 past Birmingham and Worcester.
Exit the M5 at junction 11A, taking the A417 towards Cirencester.
At the Air Balloon Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A436 and continue until you reach the A40.
Turn right onto the A40 and continue past the Northleach roundabout toward Burford and Sherborne.
Pass the first signpost on your left for Sherborne and take the second small turning on the left signposted “Sherborne 1 ½ miles”.

Public Transport
Buses
From Cats Abbey there is a lane that leads to the A40 where the Stagecoach S2 bus comes from either Cheltenham (take the Sherborne stop after Northleach) or from Oxford City Centre (the stop after Little Barrington). Access the timetable here and click on “All stops” underneath “Major stops” to see the times for “Sherborne turn” stop.
Trains
There are trains from London Paddington to Charlbury or Kingham stations which are both about a 25 minute drive from Cats Abbey.
Trains also depart from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway which is about 35 minutes drive from Cats Abbey, but could be longer if the A40 is busy. The advantage of Marylebone trains is there are more frequent trains, with a shorter journey time and often cheaper tickets.
